Types of Cryptocurrencies
Bitcoin
Bitcoin (BTC) is the first cryptocurrency, created in 2009. Often called "digital gold," it has a fixed supply and serves as a store of value and medium of exchange.
Stablecoins
Stablecoins are pegged to fiat currencies (e.g. USD). USDT and USDC aim to maintain a 1:1 price with the dollar. They are used for trading and reducing volatility exposure.
Altcoins
Altcoins are alternative cryptocurrencies to Bitcoin. Examples include Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and Cardano (ADA). They often offer different features or use cases.
Tokens
Tokens are built on existing blockchains (e.g. Ethereum). They can represent assets, governance rights, or access to services. NFTs are a type of token.
